The Basics of Bedok Braces

When we fit some of our younger patients with these appliances, one of the first things that we always notice is our Bedok braces are widely accepted. There’s always a group of young people who are looking forward to getting these dental appliances because it signals they will be entering their teen years soon.

The parents always seem to have a number of questions. Here’s a few of the more common concerns that moms and dads have when they come in to see us.

Children Need Braces?

First and foremost, many parents are concerned about why their children need braces in the first place. This is one of the areas where our expertise excels. We are always ready with complete and thorough answers that tell you exactly what’s up with these dental appliances and why.

One of the more common reasons is what’s called a malocclusion that occurs when there’s a difference in size between the upper and lower jaw. While that might sound intimidating the first time you hear about it, it’s actually a very common situation that can be corrected with our Bedok Braces.

Different Reasons

When you come in to talk about why your child needs these appliances, we will go through all the different reasons that we’ve seen over the years. For example, some children lose their baby teeth too soon and this causes crowding. On the other hand, we’ve seen a fair number of patients who have bad habits like thumb sucking which can actually affect the way your permanent teeth come in.

Here’s a rundown on what usually happens when you come in to see us about fitting your child with braces. The first meeting is generally a type of consultation where our dental professionals will ask a series of questions and have a look at your child’s teeth and their jaw. Generally, our experts will ask a series of questions like whether your child has problems swallowing or chewing. They will also want to know if he or she has a problem with closing their jaw and hearing a clicking noise.

Types to Choose From

There are a variety of different types of braces to choose from. The clear plastic ones that are very popular and effective are generally called aligners. There are quite a few different varieties including ones that come with our headgear that your child will wear at night.

Finding the type that best suits your child’s needs is a process that our Bedok Braces experts can guide you through.
